Commercial HVAC Rooftop Replacement Services

Commercial HVAC Rooftop Replacement is the process of removing and upgrading rooftop heating and cooling units to ensure better energy efficiency, reliability, and indoor comfort for commercial buildings. At SumZero, we provide expert replacement services across Massachusetts, helping businesses reduce operating costs and maintain optimal performance year-round.

Rooftop Unit Replacement: Why It Matters for Your Business

A well-functioning rooftop HVAC unit is essential for maintaining comfort in commercial spaces across Massachusetts. Over time, aging or underperforming units can lead to higher utility bills, inconsistent temperatures, and increased repair costs.

Signs You Need a Rooftop HVAC Replacement

Understanding when it’s time for a rooftop HVAC replacement can help you avoid headaches down the line.

  • Your system is over 15–20 years old
  • You’ve noticed frequent breakdowns
  • Your energy bills are steadily rising
  • Indoor comfort is inconsistent or poor
  • Your building fails to meet updated energy codes
"According to the U.S. Department of Energy, old commercial HVAC systems can consume up to 30% more energy than newer, high-efficiency models—directly impacting your bottom line."

Replacing your rooftop unit isn’t just a fix—it’s an investment in long-term performance and lower maintenance costs.

Benefits of a Rooftop AC Upgrade

Choosing a rooftop AC upgrade not only improves comfort but also enhances system reliability during extreme Massachusetts seasons.

  • Better temperature control throughout the building
  • Reduced emergency repairs
  • Quieter, more energy-efficient operation
  • Eligibility for local energy-saving incentives like Mass Save®

Acting early can prevent costly downtime while boosting your operational efficiency.

Cost to Replace Rooftop AC Unit: What to Expect

The cost to replace a rooftop AC unit depends on several factors—each of which contributes to your total project investment.

Key Cost Factors in Commercial Rooftop Unit Replacement

Understanding what affects pricing can help you budget more accurately.

  1. Size and complexity of the building
  2. Type of unit and system efficiency
  3. Accessibility of the rooftop
  4. Required updates to ductwork or controls
  5. Any available state rebates or programs

Consider these elements to get the best value without sacrificing quality or comfort.

How Commercial HVAC Systems Reduce Operating Costs

New commercial HVAC systems offer far more than fresh air—they deliver real savings.

  • Smart thermostats and controls for energy management
  • Lower maintenance bills over time
  • Improved air quality and humidity control

By upgrading, you’re not just replacing a unit—you’re transforming how your building stays comfortable year-round.

What Local Homeowners Are Saying

See how SumZero has helped local homeowners stay comfortable year-round with energy-efficient heat pump solutions.

Let me start by saying that the actual work that was performed by the people on site was great. Totally spot-on. They were friendly, careful, clean, considerate, and left a nice looking install when finished. The system operates very nicely, keeping my house warm with no need to run the oil heat. The sales process was very smooth. The salesman, Paul, was very knowledgable, honest, didn't try to push anything, and was very patient with all the many questions that I had to help me understand the ins and outs of heat pump heating. I'm confident that the system I bought is the right one for my home. While I would give the actual installed system a five star review, I had to take a star off due to the difficulty I had around getting my rebate. My install was performed not long after the new year when the MA rebate options were in flux (though now the 2022 rebates are set). Since the new rebates were very likely to be larger than the old for my setup, I wanted to make sure I got the new. Despite trying several times pre- and post-install to make sure the proper rebate request was filed, this didn't happen. I only discovered the old amount was requested by looking at a public site that tracks rebate requests. But here's where the good news is- even a month or two later once one of the owners of SumZero did find out about this issue, he called me personally and gave me his guarantee that they'd make it right since they realized they dropped the ball on it. They're refiling the rebate request, and in the mean time, have sent me a check for the difference (more than $3,000) so I don't have to wait for the rebate to be processed. The owner also assured me this is something they'll be paying closer attention to to make sure it doesn't happen again with future customers.
